Local AFL season draws closer

The Gladstone region’s two local Australian Rules Football clubs are ramping up preparations ahead of the 2024 AFL Capricornia season.

BITS Saints hosted a successful sign-on day on Sunday, which featured a sausage sizzle, icy poles, plenty of footballs and activities for the kids.

The introduction of an Under-11 girls side on the Capricornia football landscape promises to be one of the highlights of the upcoming season.

The Saints are also taking entries for their Auskick program, set to start on Wednesday, 6 March and run through until Wednesday, 8 May from 4pm-5pm each Wednesday.

For more information on the Auskick, phone Brendan on 0412 152 346.

Gladstone Suns are counting down the days to the start of the season.

They hosted a successful sign-on day on Saturday, 10 February, highlighted by slushies, soft drinks, a sausage sizzle and heap of football activities.

2024 training for Under-13s through to the club’s senior sides has officially started at Clinton Park on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The Under-13s and Under-15s start at 4.30pm, the Under-16 girls at 5.30pm, the Under-17 boys at 5pm and the senior sides (men’s and women’s) from 6pm.

The Suns are encouraging any new players of all ages to join them for season 2024.

Please bring water bottles, runners and boots.
