The Fitzroy Frogs bounced into Tannum Sands on Sunday, 11 February for their annual triathlon.
With weather conditions favourable for this time of year, more than 100 people came to support and participate in the event.
The event saw many people rushing to the water, darting down main street on their bikes, and sprinting to the finish line at the Tannum Sands Surf Life Saving Club.
The ocean swim presented an initial challenge getting out to the first buoy but after that it was a quick swim with the current.
Fitzroy Frogs secretary Michelle Williamson said the bike leg was a lot of fun, for a change there was no headwind on the way back into town, so it was quite speedy going over the rolling hills.
“With cooler, less humid temperatures than what we’ve been recently experiencing made for a much more pleasant run leg,” she said.
“There were a lot of smiles, it was great to see the community getting out and active on a Sunday morning.”
Jack Smith once again took out the first place spot in the Fitzroy Frogs top event the sprint distance (750m swim, 20km bike, 5km run) with a blistering one hour, six minutes and 40 seconds.
An entire six minutes ahead of his closest competitors in second and third place respectively.
Elisha Lane had a final time of one hour, 12 minutes and 18 seconds and Josh Smith finishing at one hour, 13 minutes and one second.
In the women’s category Madeline Taylor had a convincing win with a strong time of one hour, 36 minutes and 19 seconds.
Followed by Michelle Williamson finished in second at one hour, 36 minutes and 24 seconds and Kellie Langley hot on her heels in third with a time of one hour, 36 minutes and 56 seconds.
