Gladstone has copped the chop from State Government

The Liberal National Party (LNP) has once again shown its true colours in Gladstone, arriving with scissors in hand, not to build up our region, but to cut it down.

Since stepping into government, the LNP has launched a relentless assault on the services, jobs, and investments that underpin Gladstone’s future.

Their agenda couldn’t be clearer.

The LNP slashed funding for the Powerlink training hub, undermining skills development for our young people and weakening the pipeline of local talent.

And by scrapping the nurse and doctor attraction incentive scheme, they’ve made it even harder to recruit medical professionals to our region.

They’ve cut energy rebates, pushing up household bills and making life harder for everyday Queenslanders.

Cost of living pressures are real, and the LNP is only making them worse.

Worse still, they’ve ripped nearly $1 billion from the Stanwell Hydrogen Plant, a critical project for Gladstone’s clean energy future.

This isn’t just a blow to our climate goals; it’s a direct threat to hundreds of local jobs and economic growth.

Their cuts didn’t stop there.

They’ve cut hours and days from the new nurse-led walk-in clinic, a vital frontline health service that locals rely on for timely, affordable care.

At a time when regional health should be strengthened, the LNP has gone backwards.

If that wasn’t enough, the LNP sacked five board members of the Gladstone Ports Corporation, including the chair, leaving no local voice on one of the most important economic institutions in our region.

These aren’t just policy decisions. These are attacks on Gladstone’s future.

The people of Gladstone deserve better than this.

We deserve leaders who invest in Gladstone, back our energy future, support our workers, and fight for our local institutions.

The LNP has come to town with scissors, to cut services, cut jobs, and cut opportunities.

As your local member, I’ll keep fighting for a stronger, fairer, and more secure future for Gladstone, not one slashed to pieces by short-sighted cuts.
