Share of the gift of giving this season

Some say it’s the best time of the year. But for others, Christmas time can be a reminder of what they can’t afford amidst the pressures of over-spending, gift giving and even simply making ends meet.

Because the true essence of Christmas is about giving – and that’s why The Salvation Army is again proud to be the founding charity partner of The Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal.

This year more than ever they are calling for support with any gift or monetary contributions in-store and online from Thursday 16 November 2023.

Kahn Goodluck, Councillor for Gladstone Regional Council said it was a great privilege to officially launch the Kmart Giving Tree Appeal for Gladstone for their 36th year on Thursday morning, along with the team at Kmart and Mick from The Salvation Army Gladstone.

“The Salvos will ordinarily help out nearly 200 families every Christmas time here in Gladstone, 700 plus kids and this year in tough times it’s already shaping up to need a lot more support to help those in need,” Cr Goodluck shared on social media last week.

“Unfortunately there is never enough to be able to help everyone.

“Please keep an eye out for Kmart Giving Tree appeal boxes at the front of the store and you can help out a family in need this Christmas and put a smile on a child’s face.

“Thank you so much to the Salvos and the great team at Kmart for this fantastic initiative helping people in our community.”

Here’s how you can be part of the Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal:

1. Practical gifts

Choose a practical gift that can be useful beyond Christmas time and deliver it to the Express Drop Off point outside your local Kmart store or leave it under the Wishing Tree in store.

Some suggested gifts you can choose from books, school supplies, headphones, gift cards and everyday essentials for all ages, such as socks, bed linen and bath towels.

2. Monetary contributions

Monetary contributions can be made in-store at any Kmart and online.
