Snapped in the top 10

After snapping beautiful photos of newlyweds for 10 years, Photography by Jess Edwards has once again been recognised as one of the top 10 wedding photographers in the country.

At the Australian Wedding Awards last Wednesday on the Gold Coast, Mrs Jess Edwards was named one of the top 10 wedding photographers in Australia for the second year in a row.

Ms Edwards said she was very humbled to receive this award a second time and hopes to make it to the national awards for a third year in a row as it is also “a great networking event”.

“It’s nice to get all dressed up; as wedding vendors, we don’t often get dressed up ourselves because we’re always working,” Ms Edwards said.

“It’s wonderful to put faces to (business) names and meet a lot of people from different regions.”

On the other hand, it can be difficult to maintain a work and family life balance being away for work so often.

Ms Edwards also has a cattle property and three children.

Thankfully, Ms Edwards has a great network of friends and family who have supported her from the moment she picked up a camera.

Aside from the award, the highlight of her career is being able to travel and meet a variety of different people as each wedding she attends as a photographer is “ridiculously unique and special”.

“Whether it’s an intimate elopement with just two people or whether it’s a massive wedding of over 300 people, they’ve all got something different and special,” Ms Edwards said.

“It never gets monotonous because one weekend I could be shooting a rural wedding out on a property and next weekend I could be in a flash resort somewhere down in Toowoomba.”

Ms Edwards dedicated her award to her two grandmothers who taught her the value of hard work, to nurture creativity and to find the beauty in everything.
