Gambling on better community outcomes

Clubs and organisations in the Gladstone region will share in more than $206,000 from the latest round of the Gambling Community Benefit Fund.

Member for Gladstone said there were nine successful recipients.

The Tannum Sands Tennis Association has $35,000 to resurface its courts, while the Boyne Tannum Men’s Shed will install a dust extractor with its $23,540 grant.

The Gladstone Men’s Shed has $35,000 to extend its current shed, while another $35,000 was allocated to the Gladstone District Dirtriders Club to buy an all-terrain vehicle and ride-on mower.

Gladstone’s Beast Training Centre will purchase training equipment with its $26,629.59 GCBF grant.

Kookaburra Creek Kindergarten will undertake a $35,000 upgrade of its kitchen while the Gladstone Girl Guides have $12,450 for upgrades to their kitchen and the installation of a flagpole.

Valley’s Rugby League Club will put $19,646 toward the upgrade of a facility.

The Gladstone Dog Obedience Club will purchase agility equipment with its $10,735 grant while Thinkagain Australia has $9691.14 to purchase playground equipment.

“These grants deliver real services and benefits to our local community,” Mr Butcher said.

“The Miles Government is extremely grateful for the role the organisations play in supporting minority groups, creating opportunities, and fostering community spirit and connectivity.”

“I can’t wait to see the fruits of the hard work of these community groups, with a little help from their GCBF grants, in the future.”

Across the region, the Calliope State School P and C Association was successful in getting $10,115.73 to purchase pool land ropes.

The Calliope Junior Rugby League Club has $35,000 to upgrade field lighting, with the same amount gifted to the Biloela Dirt Riders Inc for lighting upgrades.

The Callide Valley Touch Association has $12,500 for the purchase of a ride-on mower.

The Monto Growers Group will install a $12,259.40 weather station with its grant.

Moura’s Junior Rugby League Club will construct a $35,000 storage shed for equipment.

The Heart of Agnes Community Association will buy beach access mats worth $4790.
