Gladstone Regional Council councillor candidate Ben Noll has been a part of the Gladstone community for 17 years.
While he currently works as a bottle shop attendant at the Rocky Glen Hotel, Ben is best known as ‘DJB’, a locally based, mobile and club DJ working across the region for the past 10 years.
“If you have been to a wedding, prom, an afterparty, 18th or 21st, festival or function, chances are I might have been playing the tunes,” he said.
“All this means I have been influential in Gladstone’s night life and helping the people celebrate and make memories.”
The majority of Ben’s working life in Gladstone has been industry-based.
He wore the Boyne Smelter uniform for 11 years in various roles, starting off on contract until he was offered a fulltime position where he finished in the IT department.
“I have also built two successful small businesses, DJB Sound and Lighting and Charm’s Grooming, that continue to operate today,” he said.
“I am no stranger to the work-life balance issues faced by people in our community and what it takes to get small businesses started, running smoothly, and thriving for multiple years.
“Being a problem solver has been core to what drives me and motivates me to make a difference – trying to ascertain what the client or stakeholder actually wants to accomplish and to work towards the most efficient and cost conscious way to get said outcome.
“At times, to achieve these outcomes I have engaged another business, instead of my own, purely so the client or stakeholder has the best result possible.
“As such I believe that transparency and integrity is paramount in all business dealings.”
Ben told Gladstone Today while he has proven he can adapt to different situations and settings, the people who know him will be happy to know that he will not be letting go of who he is.
“To be open, honest and authentic is my life mantra,” he said.
“What I personally want is irrelevant, what is relevant is what I can do for the people of Gladstone.”
