A vision for people at all stages of life

Mellissa Holzheimer has stepped up to run for a seat with Gladstone Regional Council in next year’s local government election.

Gladstone has been Mellissa’s home for almost all of her 42 years and she has been with her husband, Matt for 23 years.

Mellissa expressed how they both share a deep love for their community and envision it as their place of retirement when that time in life comes.

“As someone from a large family, I cherish my relationships with many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who play an important part in our community’s future.” Mellissa shares.

“The support of my family, and understanding the importance of having a supportive family and the community, is something I hold dear and know to be essential in life.”

With over 20-plus years in community services, Mellissa has worked with various organisations, aiding children, young people, and families affected by child protection, mental health, and disability issues.

“My career reflects my dedication to honesty, hard work, and passion for all members of our community.

“I believe that great local governance begins with decisions that prioritise an accessible, sustainable, community that is also focused on making financially responsible policy.

“A core part of my vision is to support a community that provides for people at all stages of their life, in an inclusive and responsive manner. This approach ensures that Gladstone is a community where every individual feels valued and supported, from youth to our senior members.

“I stand for care, responsibility, and thoughtful progress to ensure the continued flourishing of our region for future generations. Our industrial city has provided employment for many, and it’s vital we maintain the great community we have.”

Mellissa believes for a community to be whole and healthy, a council must be based on genuine care and concern for every sector in every area of the region.

“It would be my privilege to serve you as part of that council……upholding the values of honesty, hard work, and passion.”
